Oppo, at the MWC 2017, has announced launching 5x Dual-Camera zoom tech that is designed to deliver 5x optical zoom without the uninspiring camera bump.
A first, the 5x Dual Camera Zoom' technology, is the world’s first periscope-style dual-camera technology for smartphones. The technology offers zoom capability on a smartphone sans losing out on image quality; this is a breakthrough camera technology that sets the bar higher when compared to the 2x zoom functions available these days.
Meanwhile, Oppo’s new camera technology features two lenses: a telephoto lens and wide-angle that is not different from what others manufacturers have been promoting, though.
However, what makes Oppo’s camera technology stand out from the crowd is that the telephoto lens is set at 90-degree angle, which is also how a Periscope works. The new setup is only 5.7mm thick, which could render a look to mobile cameras that is minus the bumps.
This technology seems better than that of the iPhone 7 Plus’ 2x digital zoom. The lens is itself capable of 3x optical zoom, but Oppo’s own proprietary “image fusion technology” will be able to provide digital zoom to bring it up to 5x zoom.
