Google's much-loved Chromecast streaming dongle got a much-awaited upgrade in the form of the new Chromecast that brings along a new sibling - the Chromecast Audio.
Both the new devices are priced at $35.
The new Chromecast gets a design overhaul, in tune with the leaks and adds improved WiFi abilities. This should put to rest some of the issues that nagged the original Chromecast.
Google has also added new colour options.
The more interesting device of the two is the Chromecast Audio. Something that promises to solve one of the omnipresent issues of wirelessly playing phone audio on home speakers.
Because the Chromecast Audio doesn't use Bluetooth and relies instead on WiFi, range wouldn't be an issue as with similar existing devices that use Bluetooth to connect.
Chromecast Audio functions quite like the regular Chromecast and has cross-platform support - Android, iOS, laptops.
Google has also updated the Chromecast app with improved search.
The new Chromecasts will be available in 17 countries starting September 29.
Google hasn't yet announced the new Chromecast and Chromecast Audio's India availability and prices. The first generation Chromecast took its own time to officially arrive in India.
Google has also unveiled the new Nexus smartphones - the Huawei-Google Nexus 6P and the LG-Google Nexus 5X along with a new 'Google made' convertible device - the Pixel C. Google also announced key features of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and updates to the Google Photos service.
