Google has expanded its AI chatbot Bard to teenagers in most countries worldwide. The AI chatbot Bard is now available to teenagers who can manage their own Google Account, starting with English, and more languages will be added over time.
As per Google, Teens can use Bard to find inspiration, discover new hobbies and solve everyday problems. For example, they could ask Bard for writing tips for a class president speech, suggestions for what universities to apply to, or ways to learn a new sport like pickleball.
In order to use Bard, teenagers need to satisfy particular age requirements determined by their location.
In the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and the UK, the minimum age is 18, whereas in other accessible countries, it is either 13 or the age stipulated by their regional regulations.
To Register For Bard, Follow These Simple Steps
– If teenagers don’t have a Google account, they need to create one by providing their name, email address, and password on the Google Account sign-up page.
– After creating a Google Account, they can visit the Bard website
– Bard will guide teenagers through a brief onboarding process, explaining how to use the chatbot responsibly.
– Resources, such as a video with tips on responsible use and an overview of Bard Activity, will be provided.
– After completing the process, teenagers can start using Bard to chat, ask questions, and generate text.
– They can access Bard from the Bard website or through the Bard app.
“We’ve trained Bard to recognise areas that are inappropriate to younger users and implemented safety features and guardrails to help prevent unsafe content, such as illegal or age-gated substances, from appearing in its responses to teens,” said Google.
The tech giant, in a blogpost, said that Bard can also be a helpful learning tool for teens, allowing them to dig deeper into topics, better understand complex concepts and practice new skills.
They could, for instance, ask Bard to help them brainstorm science fair project ideas or learn more about a specific time period in history.
“For even more interactive learning, we’re bringing a math learning experience into Bard. Anyone, including teens, can simply type or upload a picture of a math equation, and Bard won’t just give the answer — it’ll share step-by-step explanations of how to solve it,” Google said.
Bard will be able to help with data visualization, too. With this new capability, Bard can generate charts from tables or data included in a prompt — like if a teen asks Bard to show in a bar chart how many hours they volunteered across a few months.
