Priya Bapat is one of the most remarkable actresses in Indian cinema and cemented her acting credentials in Hindi and Marathi films. She has been married to actor Umesh Kamat for 13 years. Some of their fans have often questioned why they didn’t embrace parenthood after 13 years of marriage. The City of Dreams actress talked about this aspect of life in an interview with the Hauterrfly YouTube channel. Priya questioned why people think life is complete only when someone experiences marital bliss and gives birth to children. She added that there are women who don’t embrace motherhood and feel content with their lives. According to her, questions regarding the baby are not posted in the comment section of Umesh’s picture while such comments are always there on her pictures. It is because she is a woman, and becoming a mother is an expectation of her. The actress said that she would try for a baby if she felt so.
Social media users lauded Priya for her bold take on such subjects and one of them agreed with the opinions put forth by her. The user wrote that many people still adhere to the conventional notions and appreciate a woman if she is a mother.
As of now, Priya is enjoying a happily married life with actor Umesh and talked about it in an interview with the Free Press Journal. When asked how she met Umesh, the actress replied, “Umesh and I both started working as child actors. I just finished my tenth standard and was doing a Marathi television show. It was the last day of the shoot and we met on the set. We exchanged numbers. And after that, there wasn’t any contact for a year or so."
Priya added that she was a student at Wilson College while Umesh had studied at Ruparel College. According to her, the daughter of the principal of Ruparel College was Umesh’s friend. She was studying at Wilson College with Priya and was her friend as well. So, Priya and Umesh met and started chatting and meeting once again.
Priya married Umesh in 2011.
