Moodar Koodam Actor Naveen's Next Directorial To Star Nagarjuna: Reports

The Tamil film industry is known for films which give impactful messages and gripping screenplays despite having a low budget. The art of producing superhit films with a constrained budget first came into relevance after the release of the movie Pizza which was directed by Karthik Subbaraj. It was released in 2012. This practice was taken forward by directors like Nalan Kumarasamy and Naveen.

In 2013, Nalan Kumarasamy released the movie Soodhu Kavvum which became superhit at the box office despite having a budget of Rs 2 crore. It starred Vijay Sethupathi, Bobby Simha, Ashok Selvan and Sanchita Shetty in the lead roles. Similarly, Naveen directed Moodar Koodam in the same year which garnered praise from the critics and audience alike. The director is now reportedly gearing up for another release which is said to star actors Nagarjuna and Upendra in the lead roles. The film will be released in Telugu, Kannada and Tamil.

After gaining fame from his directorial debut Moodar Kooda, the director is creating a buzz in the entertainment industry with his upcoming directorial with Nagarjuna. The makers have not officially announced this collaboration. However, in an interview, Nagarjuna was quoted saying that he will be doing an action entertainer like Pathaan which starred Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. The film is said to be directed by Naveen.

“Right now, I can’t say whether or not the project with Naveen will be my 100th film,” said Nagarjuna as quoted in the Film Companion report. Several reports have also mentioned the ongoing conversations between the director and actor regarding the movie.

The fans of the actor and director are eagerly waiting for the announcement. The official cast, technicians and other important information have not been released by the makers yet. Director Naveen who is now one of the leading directors in the Tamil industry failed to gain producers for his debut film Moodar Koodam. He decided to bankroll his film and launched his own production house White Shadows Production.

After the release of Moodar Koodam, the director was gearing up for the fantasy thriller Alaudhinin Arputha Camera movie in which he starred opposite actress Ananadhi. However, the film remained unreleased till today due to a financial dispute with Swarna Sethuraman of Flash Films.
