Amethi MP explains his reason for turning down offer to become Minister.

New Delhi: Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has said he declined the offer to become a Union Minister because he wants to help his party and likes doing one thing at a time.

"I like to work on one thing at a time. I am more concerned about working for the Congress," he told journalists at the Indo-African summit in New Delhi on Wednesday.

"I would have disappointed the Youth Congress had I accepted the offer," Rahul said.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi told the media after Union Council of Ministers was expanded on Sunday that her Rahul, her son, had turned down an offer to take up a ministerial post.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is believed to have suggested that Rahul, who represents the Amethi constituency in Lok Sabha, could become a Minister of State in his office.
