New Delhi: The Telangana fire continues to scald the Congress. No decision was taken at the GoM meeting held on Thursday to discuss the situation. Apparently, there are differences over making Hyderabad a Union Territory.
The Cabinet is likely to discuss these issues at a meeting on Friday. A final call on Hyderabad will be taken only after this meeting.
Sources say the Centre is likely to provide funds for the new capital of Seemandhra. The Finance Commission will prepare the package for it.
The Winter session of Parliament, which began on Wednesday, has failed to pass any important legislations due to the continued disruptions over Telangana.
The Congress faces threat from its own MPs and leaders from Andhra Pradesh over the issue. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has threatened to quit politics if the state is bifurcated. Two MPs, one a Congress leader from Andhra Pradesh and the other a TMC leader from West Bengal, gave notices for a no-confidence motion against the UPA government on Thursday over the matter.
