The opposition has upped the ante on Centre’s budgetary proposal under which a part of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) withdrawal will be taxed.
After Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi demanded a withdrawal of the proposal, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also joined the protest bandwagon.

In a series of tweets, he further attacked the centre for imposition of new cesses:
“According to 14th Finance Commission recommendations, central funds to Bihar had already decreased significantly by 10.8%. Now with the imposition of new cesses, GOI has further swindled the states of their share.”

Meanwhile, after the massive row Modi has asked Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to reconsider the proposed tax on 60% of Employees Provident Fund withdrawal, sources told CNN-IBN.
