Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met BJP Members of Parliament — both from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha — from Maharashtra, continuing his series of meetings with party MPs from across the country.
During the course of the meeting, the prime minister asked the MPs, especially the new ones, about their experience in Parliament so far.
The meeting comes close on the heels of Maharashtra gearing up for elections. Sources told News18 that the gathering also revolved around the upcoming polls and how the BJP unit has been able to keep the morale up after the Lok Sabha election.
“The prime minister asked us to keep up the good work and ensure that we reach out to the public as much as possible. There is a need to keep functioning and strengthening the booths,” a source about PM Modi’s message to the MPs.
In the past, a few MPs had raised the issue of voters’ names missing from the poll list and the prime minister is said to have asked them to look into the issue.
Apart from this, PM Modi asked MPs for feedback from the ground, especially after the recent Lok Sabha polls.
The recent budget did not make any specific mention of any promise for Maharashtra, although several big-ticket projects have been announced for the western state in the recent past. “There is a lot that is there in the budget for the common man, especially in states like ours. The budget announcements need to be taken to the people at large,” the prime minister reportedly told the MPs.
In the list of MPs who met the prime minister were senior ministers in the government Nitin Katkar and Piyush Goyal as well as debutant Murlidhar Mohol.
