Moradabad: The Samajwadi Party on Friday appeared to be keeping its options open on post poll tie ups with parties including Congress in case of a hung verdict in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

The party also made clear that its supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav will be the Chief Minister in case it is in a position to form a government.

"We are confident of getting an absolute majority. If that situation (hung assembly) arises then everything depends on election results," Akhilesh Yadav, President of Uttar Pradesh Samajwadi Party, said.

Yadav, son of Mulayam Singh Yadav, was replying to a question whether the party would enter into any tie up with parties like Congress , if it fell short of majority in the 403 member House.

Samajwadi Party, which has 22 members in the Lok Sabha, provides outside support to the UPA government. Mulayam Singh Yadav has also declared that his party will not withdraw support to the Central government.

Akhilesh, who was travelling in his improvised 'Rath' staging a road show in Moradabad district ruled out his being a chief ministerial candidate of the party.

"Mulayam Singh Yadav is our leader and he will decide about the CM. Nobody is projected as CM except Mulayam Singh Yadav," he said.

Asked if his father would move to the centre after the elections , Akhilesh said, "The MLAs will decide who will be the CM."
