New Delhi: Relatives of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and his cabinet colleagues were illegally recommended for the Indian Administrative Service, Union Minister Kabil Sibal alleged on Friday.
Sibal, who on April 29 had accused the UP government of involvement in land scams, presented a list of 46 state civil service officers who were allegedly recommended for the IAS in violation of rules.
Many of these 46 officers allegedly face departmental probes and court cases. Sibal, however, clarified that the officers were interviewed for the IAS but were no recruited.
Sibal admitted that there was no concrete method for checking nepotism and favouritism in such recommendations.
The minister, who claimed he had never seen such violations in recommendations for IAS recruitment elsewhere, joked that he would dig out similar cases from other states when they head into elections.
He also alleged caste bias in favour of Yadavs in the Provincial Armed Constabulary recruitments in the state.
Sibal had on Sunday alleged that the state government had favoured judges, bureaucrats and mediapersons with illegal land allotments.
