Seeking complete ban on liquor in Tamil Nadu, PMK to hold protest march today
Opposition parties have put immense pressure on the state government over the issue and have demanded a liquor ban after the death of prohibition activist Sasi Perumal brought the issue to the centre stage of Tamil Nadu politics.

Chennai: Anbumani Ramadoss led Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) is likely to hold a protest march on Monday seeking total prohibition of liquor in Tamil Nadu.

Opposition parties have put immense pressure on the state government over the issue and have demanded a liquor ban after the death of prohibition activist Sasi Perumal brought the issue to the centre stage of Tamil Nadu politics.

Months ahead of the 2016 Assembly elections, Ramadoss, PMK’s chief ministerial candidate has made prohibition his main poll plank.

A shocking video of a four-year-old boy being forced to drink alcohol by a group of men in Tiruvannamalai had spurred opposition parties in Tamil Nadu to demand total prohibition in the state.

With neighbouring states like Kerala imposing prohibition in a phased manner, the chorus to shut wine shops in Tamil Nadu is growing louder every passing day.
