Rajya Sabha elections: Polling underway in four states
The polls for the Upper House of Parliament, which began at 9 am, will close at 4 pm.

Polling began on Friday for the Rajya Sabha elections in four states - Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Assam. The Election Commission made elaborate arrangements for the polls which will cover 18 seats.

The elections are being held for six seats in Andhra Pradesh, five in West Bengal, four in Odisha and three in Assam.

The polls for the Upper House of Parliament, which began at 9 am, will close at 4 pm. The counting of votes will take place at 5 pm.

To check electoral malpractices, including misuse of money, the Election Commission had appointed special observers for 18 Rajya Sabha seats from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Odisha and West Bengal.
