New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is aiming to file its chargesheet in the Railway scam on July 3, sources said on Tuesday. The taped conversations between accused in the scam have been sent for forensic tests and the reports are expected soon, sources said.
The CBI sources also said that a questionnaire for ex-Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal was being prepared. The sources said that the CBI wanted to know if Bansal was aware of the nexus between his nephew Vijay Singla, suspended Railway Board official Mahesh Kumar and others.
The CBI also wants Bansal to clarify how Singla gave Mahesh the assurance that the minister was on board and that his work would be done, sources said. The interrogation of the accused duo had established that Singla had gained Mahesh Kumar's confidence after he managed to get files cleared at the highest level.
The sources added that Bansal will be questioned, although not immediately as evidence collected so far does not point towards his complicity. Investigation so far, however, has pointed towards the role of Bansal's private secretary Rahul Bhandari.
