Jammu: Taking serious view of a media report alleging use of "unfair means" to benefit son of a Jammu and Kashmir minister, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday summoned him and ordered a probe by the Crime Branch into the case.
"The Chief Minister has asked Education Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed to explain facts in the matter," an official spokesman said tonight.
The case allegedly also involves some Board of School Education (BOSE) officials, he said.
The file submitted by the Congress minister to the CM has been sent to the state Crime Branch and it has been asked to complete inquiry within seven days, he said.
Meanwhile, dismissing the report published in a local newspaper as "baseless", Sayeed said, "I welcome the Chief Minister's decision to hand over the case to the Crime Branch."
In a major embarrassment for Sayeed, the newspaper carried a facsimile of an answer sheet in two handwritings alleging that part of the Urdu paper had been completed by an education official posted on duty during the secondary examinations in 2009 to help the minister's son pass.
