Lucknow: Days after Uma Bharti described herself as his 'heiress', former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh on Saturday said he will campaign against the BJP leader and claimed that she does not stand a chance of winning from Charkhari assembly constituency.
"Uma Bharti is in the race for third or fourth spot in Charkhari... It is a certainty that she will not win," Singh, convenor of the newly-formed Jan Kranti Party said in Lucknow, releasing the next list of party nominees for the state assembly polls.
When pointed out that Uma calls herself as his 'daughter' and holds him in high esteem, Singh said, "It is not an issue of 'beta-beti'. Whoever is in our opposition, it is our duty to defeat him."
He said he will campaign in favour of his party candidate for Charkhari seat, from where the BJP's firebrand leader is seeking an entry into the UP legislature.
Lambasting the BJP for promising 33 per cent reservation for women in its poll manifesto, he said it is a deep-rooted conspiracy of BJP-Congress to keep the backwards and Dalits out of power.
