Trinamool Congress chief says she can discuss Nandigram violence with Left Front government in Bengal.

New Delhi: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said she was willing to talk with any member of the Left Front government on bringing peace to Nandigram.

"We have no problems in sitting for talks with any Front partner. But does any Left Front partner who wants to talk to us has the state government's mandate that all decisions taken at such a meeting will be implemented?" she said in Kolkata.

"Unless this question is answered, any such exercise would be meaningless," she said. PTI reports that Banerjee spoke to government ally and Forward Bloc leader Ashok Ghose and told him that the Trinamool was ready to attend an all-party meeting on Nandigram without pre-conditions.

The CPI-M, which leads the state government, had on Monday asked its allies to persuade the Trinamool to start a dialogue on Nandigram, where 14 people died on March 14 while protesting against a plan to build chemical industry complex.

PTI reports Ghose sent Banerjee's proposal to Left Front chairman Biman Bose. Bose had on Monday said the Left Front had authorised its partners to open dialogue with the opposition so that peace could be restored in Nandigram.
