Chennai: Stepping up her attack against the Centre, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Friday accused Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of remaining silent on the Mullaperiyar dam row.
"I had written to him (Singh) on November 23 asking him to direct Kerala not to create panic on the safety of dam for political gains even as a case was pending before the Supreme Court. It is more than 20 days since I had written that letter but the Centre is silent and not acting," she said.
In her concluding remarks at a special session of the state assembly to pass an unanimous resolution asserting its rights over the dam, she said her demand for CISF cover at the site and asking Singh to rein in Kerala had been met by 'silence.'
"I sought CISF cover following the tense situation there. The Prime Minister responded to that also with his silence. I once again request him to deploy CISF cover," she added.
