The Haryana government is still indecisive about bringing a bill to give reservation benefits to the agitating Jat community, sources said on Monday.

However, the government said the situation is under control in the state. In the Haryana government's cabinet meeting, it was decided that compensation will be given top those who lost their lives. The death toll in the state has risen to 16.

The sources added that the damage caused in the stir will be assessed and compensations will be announced in due course of time.

Fresh violence was reported in Ladsoli village in Sonipat district where demonstrators blocked National Highway-1. Traffic on the Delhi-Chandigarh rail route was restored. The Delhi-Jaipur and Delhi-Mathura highways have been opened for traffic. Railway routes to other places are also being restored.

Earlier on Monday, the Supreme Court sought a status report from Haryana government on the plea of Delhi government seeking resumption of water supply to the national capital, disrupted due to the ongoing Jat quota stir.

A bench headed by Chief Justice TS Thakur, which sought the status report in two days, issued notice to the Centre and Uttar Pradesh government on the plea of Delhi government which has also sought a direction for ensuring security on the barrages on Munak Canal in Haryana.
