Congress Rajya Sabha MP Birender Singh is likely to join the BJP. The formal announcement on his joining is likely to be made on August 16.
Earlier in July the rebel Congress Rajya Sabha MP from Haryana held a closed-door meeting with BJP President Amit Shah, amidst speculation that he may join the ruling party ahead of state Assembly elections later in 2014.
The meeting was brief and was held at a local hotel after Shah chaired a meeting of state party leaders at Gujarat Bhawan on July 30.
Birender Singh was keen to join the BJP after he openly revolted against Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and refused to contest the upcoming state Assembly elections under his leadership in July 2014.
