Hardik Patel explains his disappearance, claims police left him at a remote location in Gujarat
After Patel addressed the meeting at Tenpur village, the police tried to detain him but he fled in a vehicle, a senior police officer said.

A day after he resurfaced, Patel agitation leader Hardik Patel appeared before the Gujarat High Court on Thursday to explain his disappearance.

Hardik Patel told the court that police left him at a remote location in Gujarat. The High Court told Patel to file an affidavit in the case. The case will now be heard on Monday.

Following a public meet on Tuesday, he had gone 'missing' and was traced on Wednesday in Halvad which is nearly 150 kilometres from Ahmedabad.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Gujarat High Court had directed police to trace the 22-year-old Patidar leader. He had on Tuesday evaded arrest following a police crackdown on a public meeting in the Aravalli district while 17 other protesters were arrested for disobeying prohibitory orders. The protest was being held even as the authorities had imposed Section 144 in the area.

After Patel addressed the meeting at Tenpur village, the police tried to detain him but he fled in a vehicle, a senior police officer said.

"Hardik held a public meeting in Tenpur village in Bayad taluka without taking prior permission. As we came to know about it, our police team went there to detain him but he ran away from there to evade detention," Inspector General of Police Hasmmukh Patel said.
