Balrampur: Attacking the Samajwadi Party, BJP leader Uma Bharti said on Sunday that fatwas on religious lines for votes was dangerous for country's politics. Addressing an election rally in Balrampur, she alleged sensing their imminent defeat in the UP Assembly election, the SP and the Congress had resorted to communal politics.
The Congress was talking about religion-based quota while the SP was getting fatwas issued from Muslim religious leaders, Bharti said.
"It seems Rahul Gandhi has realised defeat of his party and, therefore, the Congress is playing the card of Muslim reservation," the BJP leader said.
Citing the example of Gujarat, she said the development of Muslims was only possible during the BJP regime. The BJP leader alleged instead of improving the lot of dalits and backwards, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati worked for welfare of their own families.
