New Delhi: The Delhi Police has reportedly blamed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the fiasco outside the Planning Commission building on Tuesday, during which one of her ministers was injured. According to sources, the Delhi Police, in its report, has stated that the security incharge of the Commission building had informed the resident commissioner of West Bengal that Mamata must enter the premises via the back gate to evade the protesters.
Mamata, however, refused and walked in from the front gate where the protestors were gathered. While she managed to enter the building without any major incident, her minister, West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra was caught up among the protesting youth. He was reportedly hit in the chest and had his clothes torn during the violence.
Mamata, on Tuesday, called off her meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh citing health reasons and failed to meet Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Mitra was hospitalised following the injuries incurred during the protest.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged against unknown persons in connection with the attack on Mitra.
