New Delhi: As Congress suffered a huge setback in Delhi in the assembly elections, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday sent her resignation to the Lieutenant Governor. Sheila Dikshit, who has been the Delhi CM for the past 15 years was also trailing behind Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal in her constituency New Delhi by a huge margin.

The Congress has been decimated in the Delhi Assembly elections 2013 and managed to take leads in less than 10 seats by 12 noon. The BJP is emerging as the single largest party with its CM candidate Dr Harsh Vardhan leading massively in his constituency.

However, it was the Aam Aadmi Party that stunned with a spectacular debut leading in over 20 seats and emerging as a crucial kingmaker and a potential opposition. The Congress accepted that people wanted a change in Delhi.

"Sheila Dikshit has been an outstanding CM. Since she has been around for so long, people feel they want a change," Union Minister Shashi Tharoor said.
