BJP to Get a Boost in Uttar Pradesh, More Leaders to Join Party
After former BSP leader Swami Prasad Maurya, more leaders from Uttar Pradesh may join the BJP. Highly placed sources in the BJP have confirmed that 11 MLAs from the Samajwadi Party, the BSP and the Congress are set to join the BJP. This is probably the one of the biggest event ahead of UP polls.

After former BSP leader Swami Prasad Maurya, more leaders from Uttar Pradesh are likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

As per BJP sources, 11 MLAs from the Samajwadi Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Congress are set to join the BJP.

Swamy Prasad Maurya, formerly with the Mayawati-led BSP joined the BJP on Monday. Maurya had quit the BSP after he made a series of allegations against Mayawati on selling of party tickets for pecuniary considerations.

BJP has been trying to strengthen its base at the ground level by attracting leaders from other parties as part of its roadmap to 2017 polls.

However, despite reeling under a series of high-profile exits, BSP received a boost to its 2017 campaign after four Opposition MLAs and a former BJP minister joined the party on Wednesday.

The shifting loyalties will also have an impact in the upcoming Vidhan Sabha session that starts on the August 22. The session will most likely be the last session before the polls.
