Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said her government has received Rs 56,000 crore worth of investment proposals since coming to power in May.
"We have received Rs 56,000 crore worth of investment proposals," Banerjee said in an interview to a Bengali TV channel.
She said Larsen & Toubro is willing to pump in Rs 20,000 crore.
"They want to set up a thermal power station in Adra of Purulia, and another on Hindustan Cable's land (near the coal-belt of Asansol in Burdwan district). But I've proposed to them that they can set up a 700 MW thermal power plant in the jungles of Goaltore (in West Midnapore district). L&T officials will come back for discussion on December 19. They are also interested in investing in a solar power project," she said.
The chief minister said 17 railway factories she had announced during her stint in the central railway ministry would also be ready in two years.
"They will create a huge employment opportunity. The total investment will cross Rs.1 lakh crore," she said.
She said both industries and agriculture were challenges for her government.
Asserting that her government would not allow businessmen to sell fertiliser at premium prices, Banerjee said 350 unscrupulous traders have been arrested.
