Andhra CM wants Maoist infiltration checked
Officials pointed out that Maoists were entering Khammam district from Chhattisgarh in the guise of tribals.

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has asked the superintendents of police of Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar districts to watch out for Naxalites trying to regain a foothold.

Reviewing the law and order situation on the second and final day of the collectors' conference in Hyderabad on Thursday, he recalled Naxalites' attempt to consolidate themselves in the three districts about two years ago.

"Please do not remain complacent. Naxalites, who are on the run, might try to reenter the state," he said and wanted the SPs to pay full attention to improving the intelligence network.

Some officials pointed out that Maoists were entering Khammam district from Chhattisgarh in the guise of tribals.

"If tribal influx is allowed, the state will have the responsibility of rehabilitating them, a task that will prove tough in the future," they said.
