Chennai: It is a sheer coincidence that the AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa's bail application is coming up before the Supreme Court on its foundation day. This will be the last chance for Jayalalithaa to get a bail before Diwali as the apex court will go on leave for a week after Friday.
The shaken and worried party held a very low key programme in Chennai on Friday. Since Jayalalithaa is serving her sentencing at the Bangalore central jail in a corruption case, the AIADMK's presidium chairman E Madhusudhanan hoisted the party flag at the AIADMK headquarters.
The celebrations are however muted as Jayalalithaa's bail plea comes up before the Supreme Court. Many party cadres were wearing black dress.
The AIADMK chief, who has been behind the bars since September 27, has challenged the High Court order which had refused her bail. Jayalalithaa has pleaded that she is also suffering from various ailments as grounds for her immediate relief.
