New Delhi: Eleven Opposition members in the Maharashtra Assembly were on Wednesday suspended till December 15 for breach of discipline and indecent behaviour in the House on Tuesday.

The suspended members from Shiv Sena are Devendra Fadnavis, Girish Mahajan, Sandeep Dhurve, Baburao Pacharne, Dilip Yelgaonkar, Suresh Khade (all Bharatiya Janata Party), Sharad Dhamale, Sunil Dhande, Ravindra Gaikwad, Eknath Shinde and Swatantra Bharat Party member Wamanrao Chatap.

Earlier in the day the opening session of the Assembly was adjourned for twenty minutes amid noisy scenes by Opposition members, demanding discussion on the killings of members of a Dalit family allegedly by non-Dalits at Khairlanji village.

However, the government announced the dismissal of five policemen, including a Sub Divisional police officer, for dereliction of duty in connection with the killings of four members of a Dalit family in Khairlanji village in Bhandara district in September.
