'Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Going to Play T20 World Cup so They Should Start...': MSK Prasad
Prasad opined that players like Kohli and Rohit are going to be part of India's squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 and the selectors should select them for the Afghanistan series too.

Former India cricketer and chief selector MSK Prasad feels that India should include Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the squad for the T20I series against Afghanistan as they have made themselves available for the shortest format.

There are only four days to go for the first T20I against the visiting Afghanistan and the BCCI is yet to announce the squad for the three-match series starting January 11.

However, several reports suggested that Kohli and Rohit have made themselves available for selection in the T20I team after a span of about 14 months.

Prasad feels that India should play the main players in the Afghanistan T20Is as this is also the last international series in the white-ball format the Men in Blue will play before the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and USA.

“I would definitely want our main players playing in this series. Not to forget that Afghanistan are a very competitive side. Kohli and Rohit were given a bit of break before the South Africa, which was needed after a mega event like the ODI World Cup, and India did reasonably well with the youngsters then,” Prasad said on Star Sports.

Prasad opined that players like Kohli and Rohit are going to be part of India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 and the selectors should select them for the Afghanistan series too.

In my opinion, they are going to play the T20 World Cup so they should start playing right away from this series. And also, since they have declared themselves completely available for the tournament why not start now. I don’t think selectors will think otherwise,” he said on Star Sports.

According to a report on PTI, chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar had flown into South Africa during the second Test to talk to the two veterans, and both have made themselves available. But there are too many external factors, and eventually, the BCCI’s all-powerful secretary Jay Shah might be required to take a decision.
