'I Would Like to Test Myself Against Real Pace': Virat Kohli Picks Bowler He is Looking Forward to Face Against England
Virat Kohli further hailed Joe Root and said he would like to replicate his reverse slap shot in future.

Team India batting maestro Virat Kohli talked about the England cricket stars of the mega ODI World Cup match in Lucknow. Defending champions England will be desperate to bounce back in the tournament when they face high-flying India who are the only unbeaten side in the tournament thus far.

England are currently placed at the ninth spot on the points table with just 1 win in five matches as their chances of qualifying for semis are extremely slim.

They need to win their remaining four matches to maintain their slender hope of sneaking into the semi-finals at the same time they have to rely on other teams’ results too.

Ahead of the match, Kohli was asked to name the bowler he would like to face in the clash versus England and he picked Mark Wood to test himself against his pace.

“Mark Wood, I have played against Mark Wood. I think he is a great bowler, he has skillset to trouble the batsmen, so I would like to test myself against real pace,” said Virat Kohli on Star Sports.

He also talked highly of England’s wrist spinner Adil Rashid and called him a challenging bowler to face.

“Adil Rashid is a very underrated bowler and he has been doing amazingly well for England, a very challenging bowler that I am looking forward to play against,” said Kohli.

The batting maverick enjoys good record against Rashid in ODIs. He has an average of 70.66 versus Rashid and has been dismissed by him only three times in ODIs.

The 34-year-old further hailed Joe Root and said he would like to replicate his reverse slap shot in future.

“Joe Root is a great all round, the way he plays the reverse slap, I would like to take that shot,” Kohli added.

After unwinding in the cool climes of Dharamshala post a four-wicket triumph over New Zealand at the HPCA Stadium last week, India enter Sunday’s clash by sweating it out in Lucknow for the last two days, with an eye to continue their winning momentum.
