Shraddha Walkar murder case updates: Sources have told News18 that on the second day after strangulating Shraddha, Aaftab had removed her intestines and internal organs as they had started to decompose

Delhi-Mehrauli Murder Case Updates: Food blogger Aaftab Poonawala, who is being probed for murdering his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and chopping her body into 35 pieces in May, was called in for questioning in October — four months after the murder — but managed to avoid suspicion by “offering all help in tracing Walkar”. It was a trap by Vasai police that opened that details of the grisly murder during a “long drinking session”.

According to a report in Times of India, the 28-year-old accused was summoned for questioning after October 6 when an application submitted by Shraddha’s father Vikas about his missing daughter began the investigation. Poonawala had clearly thought out a plan to stonewall the police, and did not hesitate to talk about his live-in relationship with 26-year-old Walkar.

The report quoted sources as saying that he told the cops Walkar had left their Delhi home after a tiff, and admitted it was a mistake not to have tried to patch up or check on her.

Police sources said when he was allowed to go after questioning in October, Poonawala clearly felt confident. He left thinking he was playing a perfect double game: co-operating with the police in the search for his ‘dead’ live-in partner, the report stated.

When he was called for a second round of questioning early this month, he gave some contradictory statements. Altered, police officers step up surveillance but made Poonawala feel that routine questioning was over and nothing suspicious had emerged.

The report stated that the details of the gory murder began to emerge when Poonawala visited a bar in Vasai and during a binge, described how he murdered Walkar.

When Poonawala left Mumbai a day after meeting the cops on November 3, the police alerted their Delhi counterparts to keep tabs on him. The cops landed at his home on November 10 and picked him up for questioning. He is believed to have disclosed details of the murder and the cover-up, the report stated.

Here Are the Latest Updates on Shraddha Walkar Murder Case:

Police to Take Aaftab to Himachal, Uttarakhand: Delhi Police has submitted before the court that the accused Aaftab will be taken to Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh for investigation. Aaftab and Shraddha had gone on a trip to the hills in March-April before renting a flat in Delhi.

Aaftab Agrees to take Narco analysis test: Aaftab has agreed to take Narco analysis test, the permission for which was sought by Delhi Police. The court told Aaftab about the possible consequences of the test, but he agreed. The administration of sodium pentothal, also known as truth serum, is used in narcotics analysis tests. This medication reduces an individual’s self-consciousness, allowing them to speak freely. When a person loses self-consciousness and enters a hypnotic state, the test takes place. Examiners can now question the subject and get genuine responses.

Court Remands Aaftab to 5 More Days of Police Custody: A Delhi court today remanded accused Aaftab to five more days of police custody. While Delhi Police sought the accused’s 10 days remand, the court granted only five.

Aaftab to be produced before court virtually: An application seeking to allow Aaftab Poonawala to be produced before a Delhi court through video-conferencing was allowed on Thursday due to the security and sensitivity of the case. He was produced before the court at 4 pm.

Two Others Under Police Scanner: As probe carries on in the brutal Delhi murder case, the police are looking for two people – one who Aaftab met in Himachal during his trip with Shraddha and the other whose flat he reportedly rented in Chhattarpur.

The two people, identified as Badri and Rohan, are missing and hunt is on to trace them. Badri was the one who met Aaftab in Himachal and introduced him to Rohan, whose flat Aaftab rented in Chhattarpur. Rohan was also the caretaker of the house. Aaftab used to pay Rs 9000 to Rohan as rent for the flat.

In Major Breakthrough, Cops Find Thigh Bone with ‘Saw-Like Marks’: After days of search operation conducted in wooded areas of Chhattarpur, forensic and police teams seem to have found a crucial evidence – part of bone that appears to be a femur (thigh bone). News18 has learnt that the bone also has injury marks – possibly of being cut by a saw-like weapon.

The bone has been sealed and sent for forensic examination. Only forensics will ascertain if it is Shraddha’s.

Aaftab Confesses he Mutilated Body, Burnt Shraddha’s Face to Hide Identity: Delhi Police sources said that accused Aaftab confessed before the cops that he burnt Shraddha’s face after dismembering her body to hide her identity. He also confessed that he searched the internet for ways to dispose of the body after the murder, news agency ANI quoted Delhi Police sources as saying.

Aaftab removed Shraddha’s internal organs as it began to decompose: More chilling details in the case have come to light. Sources have told News18 that Aaftab has disclosed that on the second day after strangulating Shraddha, he had removed her intestines and internal organs as they had started to decompose. “This was done to avoid foul smell emanating from the house as that would have raised neighbours’ suspicion. He put the parts in a plastic bag and threw them in garbage dumps,” sources said. Police believe that most of it were either eaten up by stray animals or decomposed completely.

Shraddha’s skull, mobile phone, murder weapon still missing: According to reports, police found 10-13 bones from the forest where Aaftab claimed to have disposed of the 35 pieces of Shradhha Walkar’s body after killing her. Her head is yet to be found.

After killing Shraddha, Aaftab operated her bank account app and transferred Rs 54,000. The pending water bill of Rs 300 of Aaftab’s flat proved he used a huge amount of water — probably to the blood and any other physical sign of the murder.

Police find blood stains, gloves in Aaftab’s flat: Blood stains and surgical gloves by the window were found in the kitchen of the Chhatarpur flat. The samples have been sent for examination.

Aaftab to undergo Narco test: A Delhi court on Wednesday gave approval to police to conduct a narco-analysis test on Aaftab. The police claimed he was not cooperating during the investigation and made attempts to mislead the officers.

Shraddha’s father said he collapsed when Aaftab told him she’s no more: “He confessed in front of me. The police asked him, ‘Do you know him’? He said, ‘Yes, he is Shraddha’s father’. Then at once, he started saying Shraddha is no more. I collapsed there. I could not hear any more. Then he was taken away. I was in no condition to hear it,” Vikas Walkar was quoted as saying by NDTV.

An NDTV report stated that Walkar recalled how Aftab had been “totally normal” while speaking to him on previous occasions, and how he grew suspicious when the man washed his hands off any kind of accountability when Shraddha was missing.

“Delhi Police realised that Aaftab sometimes lies and sometimes speaks truth. So, they applied for Narco test. I feel I’m about to get justice. If he has done crime, he should be hanged. I always felt he’s lying, I had told Mumbai and Delhi Police. Aaftab is clever and has erased the evidence in the last five-six months. So, police will face a little difficulty in bringing out the truth. I won’t rest until Aaftab is given a death sentence,” Shraddha’s father told ANI.

Aaftab cut Shraddha’s body in bathroom, sold his phone on OLX: According to reports, Aaftab cut Shraddha’s body in bathroom. The suspicion arose as he used excess water during the time. He also sold his phone on OLX after killing his 26-year-old live-in partner.

We had broken up, were living as flatmates, said Aaftab: Aaftab Poonawala is learnt to have told police officers that they fought regularly for over a year. They eventually ‘broke up’ but “lived as flatmates than as a couple”. He said he killed Shraddha some time between 8pm and 9pm on May 18, dragged the body through the kitchen to the bathroom and left it there for the night.

Aaftab-Shraddha lived in Vasai as ‘husband-wife’: According to a report in Times of India, Aaftab had introduced his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar as his wife while looking for a rented accommodation in Vasai.
