The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team will take part in an open-bus parade to celebrate the T20 World Cup 2024 title win with the fans in Mumbai on Thursday. 

The Rohit Sharma-led Indian men’s cricket team that won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 title in the West Indies on Saturday (June 29) by getting the better of South Africa in the final played at Kensington Oval in Barbados is set to celebrate the historic title win in Mumbai on Thursday (July 4). The BCCI has planned an open-bus parade for the Indian players, which will be followed by a small function at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

After landing in Delhi from Barbados on Thursday morning, Indian players will attend a function at PM Narendra Modi’s office and then leave for Mumbai in the afternoon. After landing in Mumbai at 4:00 p.m. IST, the Indian team is scheduled to arrive at the Wankhede Stadium at 5:00 p.m. and then take part in an open bus parade from 5:00 p.m. IST to 7:00 p.m. IST.

Following the conclusion of the parade, players will attend a function at Wankhede Stadium, where BCCI officials will hand the Rs 125 crore prize money to the T20 World Cup 2024 winners.

Where and at what time will the open bus parade take place in Mumbai?

The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team will participate in a parade at the Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium from 5 p.m. IST on Thursday. The open bus parade celebration is expected to last for two hours.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday (July 3) to invite Indian fans to become part of the memorable celebration. He tweeted, “We want to enjoy this special moment with all of you. So let’s celebrate this win with a victory parade at Marine Drive & Wankhede on July 4th from 5:00pm onwards. It’s coming home.

What happened in the 2007 open bus parade?

In 2007, when India won the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup by getting the better of Pakistan in the final, Indian players celebrated the feat with an open bus parade in Mumbai. However, that year, the parade followed a longer route (30 km), and fans got a chance to be part of the celebration from Mumbai airport to Wankhede Stadium.
