Shaitaan is all set to release this weekend. The film stars Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan and Jyotika in the lead. Ahead of the film’s release, it has been revealed that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has certified the U/A but not without a few changes. As per reports, Shaitaan has received four modifications and one cut. For the unversed, Shaitaan is a remake of the Gujarati film titled Vash.
The trailer has hinted that Shaitaan revolves around black magic. As reported by Bollywood Hungama, the Censor Board has asked to add a voiceover featuring the disclaimer stating ‘the film does not support/endorse black magic’. Director Vikas Bahl was also asked to replace an abusive word with a scream. It has also been reported that Shaitaan got one cut.
In a gory scene, CBFC asked the makers to cut down the visuals of blood oozing from the mouth by 25%. The film has also been asked to add the message on liquor consumption. With these changes, Shaitaan’s runtime has been revealed to be 132 minutes.
Shaitaan features R Madhavan as the antagonist and Jyothika as Devgn’s wife. During the trailer launch, Ajay and Madhavan were asked if they thought about swapping their roles. Ajay confessed he wasn’t keen to play the negative role as he connected the most with the emotions of a helpless father in the movie.
“When we started shooting, the first thing Maddy (Madhavan) told me was: ‘Why aren’t you doing this role, why have you given it to me?’. I told him, ‘I really feel for the character of the father, so I will not be able to do justice to the other character. It’s a stronger character though,” the actor said.
Madhavan called Devgn a “sherdil” (braveheart) and ‘Singham’ of the industry for being kind enough to pass on the meaty role in “Shaitaan”. “I can really hope and pray that I could do justice to the kindness that has been shown to me by Ajay sir and his team, I’m very thankful,” he said.
Shaitaan is set to release on March 8.
