Jennifer Coolidge Delivers Hilarious Speech After Emmys 2024 Win For The White Lotus
Jennifer Coolidge bagged the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the show The White Lotus.

After being delayed last year due to the writers’ and actors’ strike, the 75th Emmy Awards was finally held at the Peacock Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, California. While fans have been waiting with bated breaths to watch their favourite stars win and dazzle in what can be said to be the most auspicious and celebrated night of television, the complete list of winners is also out now. Among all the stars who won big last night, actress Jennifer Coolidge bagged her second Emmy after winning the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her popular television show The White Lotus.

Coolidge made it to the top after competing with her co-stars Meghann Fahy, Sabrina Impacciatore, Aubrey Plaza, and Simona Tabasco, along with Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul), Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown), and J. Smith-Cameron (Succession). However, it was her acceptance speech that got everyone’s attention.

Immediately after taking to the stage, Cooligde began by noting that she does not have the “strength to hold the award,” thus going on to put it down next to her before beginning her speech.

“I got the hook last year I talked to you, so I am going to be so fast,” she continued as she began by shouting out to her director, Mike White. Jennifer thanked him for allowing her to play the incredible character of Tanya McQuoid.

“And he says I am definitely dead, so I am going along with it,” the actress quipped.

Notably, Tanya’s fate came to a dramatic end after her character died suddenly at the end of the second season.

Jennifer Coolidge thanks all the ‘evil gays’

Without forgetting to give her murderers a shot out, the 62-year-old actress, in one of the vital moments of her character, said, “I just want to say, I want to thank all the evil gays. Yes, Paolo, Francesco, and Bruno, thank you.”

In the very last few moments on stage, she delivered a sweet message for all and concluded by saying, “I had a little dream in my little town, and everyone said it was impractical and far-fetched. But it did happen after all, and so don’t give up on your dreams. Thank you.”

For the unversed, Mike White’s The White Lotus has been a fan favourite since its HBO debut in 2021. Both the first and second seasons have been praised for their performances and have also gotten some major award nominations, like the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild. Coolidge also became a household name for her role as Taya in the debut seasons, going on to win a Golden Globe, two Critics’ Choice Television Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and an Emmy in September 2022.
