How To Give Undivided Attention To Kids Amidst Busy Life, Expert-Approved Tips
According to an expert, the tantrums thrown by children are their way to grab their parents' attention, hence, a simple daily routine can help in solving this usual requirement.

Sometimes, not providing children your undivided attention leads to them acting out and throwing tantrums. However, giving all your attention to your child amid a hectic day is not a simple task. Alexandra Borisevich, an Early Childhood Educator and Child Parenting Expert, in her recent Instagram post, explained that just a few minutes every day can reinforce positive reactions in children by reducing the risk of challenging behaviours. According to Borisevich, the tantrums thrown by children are their way to grab their parents’ attention, hence, a simple daily routine can help in solving this usual requirement.

She explained, “Children often act out to get attention, and even negative attention is better than no attention at all. The need for attention is really a need for connection, a universal basic need, which means we do not want to ignore a child that is ‘ trying to get attention.’"

The expert suggested that parents are left with options like spending more and more time with their kids to minimize their tantrums and giving them attention from the start.

“Spend time reacting to and trying to stop challenging behaviours (which reinforces them!)," she said. Another way is to provide attention in advance, “ Give positive attention in advance, which reduces a child’s need to act out in challenging ways in order to get your attention," she explained.
