Sai Dharam’s last film BRO paired him with his real-life uncle Pawan Kalyan. The film could not live up to its hype and his next titled Gaanja Shankar is already embroiled in controversy before its release. Only a few days after Sithara Entertainment, the film’s production house, revealed the movie’s title, the film’s creators are facing legal issues. A notice demanding that portions portraying drug use in a glitzy manner be removed has been delivered by the Telangana State Anti Narcotics Bureau to the filmmakers.
The title of the movie draws attention to the necessity of abiding by regulations that forbid the promotion of drug use, as stressed by Sandeep Shandilya, the director of the Telangana State Anti-Narcotic Bureau. He said the movie’s trailer implies that the lead character, who owns a company that grows green vegetables, may be connected to growing Ganja.
Shandilya emphasised the title and content, according to a story in The Hindu, saying, “From the teaser, it appears that the main character is a vagrant engaged in the green vegetable business. The depictions of ganja plants imply a link between ganja and the protagonist’s leafy vegetable enterprise. ” The notice refers to several sections of the law that prohibit narcotics. It is forbidden for anybody to cultivate coca plants, harvest any part of the plant, produce opium poppies or other cannabis plants, manufacture, possess, purchase, transport, store, or consume any kind of psychoactive or narcotic drug.”
In the notice, Mr. Shandilya stated that he expected the producers to omit any scenes in Ganja Shankar that depict the use, distribution, sale, or trading of narcotic ganja as heroic. He requested them not to use these sequences, pointing out how detrimental they would be to the young generation. The first word in Gaanja Shankar’s title was also to be removed, according to instructions given to the filmmakers.
