Animal was also slammed by many who argued that the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial is toxic and misogynistic.

Ever since the success of Animal, fans have been eagerly waiting for the sequel of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s directorial. In a recent interview, Triptii Dimri opened up about working with Ranbir Kapoor once again in Animal Park when she shared that she does not have any idea about the film’s shoot schedule.

“For now, honestly, I’m as clueless as the audience is, I don’t know when it will start or what’s the story, I just know that it’s going to happen, when I don’t know,” Triptii told Variety.

She further opened up about the backlash that the film faced after its release and added, “It was a great experience. Yes, a lot of criticism also came along with it. But I think it’s a part and parcel of the game. And every actor has to go through it,” Dimri said. She noted that the experience brought her work to a wider audience. “After ‘Animal,’ they watched my other work.”

Released on December 1, 2023, Animal revolved around a man and his toxic relationship with his father. The film showed Vijay (played by Ranbir) as an anti-hero who would go to any lengths to protect his father, including gun down 200 people with machine gun. However, despite his efforts, he struggled to get a seal of approval from his emotionally unavailable father (played by Anil Kapoor). The film was a box office success and earned over Rs 900 crore worldwide.

However, the film was also slammed by many who argued that the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial was toxic and misogynistic. Recently, Javed Akhtar also cited Animal while he was addressing the concept of the ‘angry young man’ in films, stating that expressing irrational anger that isn’t directed at anything specific starts to turn the character into a caricature.

“I have not seen Animal. People told me about it, and I read in the news that he asks her to lick his shoe. She bends down, but thank god they cut it right there,” he said during an episode of We Are Yuvaa.

Meanwhile, previously, Rashmika Mandanna appeared on Neha Dhupia’s podcast when she explained that Animal was ‘just about a character’ who’s ‘messed in the head.’ She called the film ‘raw, real and correct’ and stated that despite everything, people enjoyed it.
