Rajinikanth is undoubtedly one of the superstars of the country who has a huge fan following. In recent years, the actor has been belting out one hit after another, the recent one being Jailer. But do you remember the film Padikkadavan that was released in 1985? Well, one of its songs recently achieved a milestone by surpassing 100 million views on YouTube.

The song Ooru Therinjikitten from the Rajinikanth-starrer Padikkadavan has accomplished a huge feat in the digital world after it surpassed 100 million views on YouTube. The Tamil drama film, starring Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth and Ambika was directed by Rajasekhar. It was produced by Kannada actor Ravichandran along with his father N Veeraswamy. The film was a Tamil remake of the Hindi film Khud-Daar.

One of the most famous songs was Ooru Therinjikitten was uploaded to a YouTube channel on November 13, 2015, by the Tamil Cinema. At first, it had received an average response. However, recently, the song garnered immense attention on the internet. Now, it has surpassed 100 million (10 crores) views on the platform. This is an immense feat because songs which are about two decades old struggle to get such attention and this song is at least 39 years old.

As per reports, the reason the song must have gone viral is the lyrics. The song is relevant to current life events and political scenarios which has caught the attention of the audience. This led to more views, comments and engagement.

Padikkadavan is a story of a loving brother Raja who works very hard and drives a taxi to provide his younger brother with the best education. The two brothers are stepbrothers of the loving Rajasekhar, whose wife ousts the two after marriage. Many years later, when one of the brothers is framed for murder, the stepbrother, who is also a judge returns as a lawyer to defend him in the court. The film was released on November 11, 1985. The music was handled by the renowned musician Ilaiyaraaja and lyrics were penned by Vairamuthu, Vaali and Gangai Amaran. It was the songs that won the hearts of the audience.
