The body of Arjun, a lorry driver from Kannadikkal in Kozhikode, who went missing in the landslide at Shirur, Karnataka was reportedly found in the Gangavali River after 71 days of search. The lorry belonging to Arjun has been extracted from the river in which a dead body was found inside a cabin.
The lorry owner, Manaf, confirmed the identification of the lorry driven by Arjun. The identity of the dead body has not yet been confirmed. It will be confirmed only after a forensic examination. The search operation saw several delays but owner Manaf and the family of Arjun were hopeful of discovering the body of Arjun. After the rescue operation, the renowned filmmaker Joy Mathew applauded the humanity shown by Manaf in extracting the body of Arjun.
Owner Manaf has been staying in Shirur to help in the rescue operation. After the extraction of the lorry, owner Manaf said that he never wished for his lorry without Arjun’s body. He reportedly promised the victim’s family to bring the body of Arjun to his home in Kannadikkal.
“Arjun had a belief in me. No matter what happened, I would be there. I have fulfilled my promise to the family. He must be brought back to his home. I don’t need anything else. I am keeping the promise I made to his father,” said Manaf in an emotional outburst. He wishes to complete the formalities as quickly as possible to take Arjun’s dead body home if it matches. The lorry was retrieved during the third phase of the search, which involved dredging operations. Lorry owner Manaf has confirmed that Arjun was driving the same lorry at the time of the incident. Authorities have also removed the body from the cabin, and efforts are now underway to bring the lorry to shore.
A dredging search was conducted in an area marked by Major Gen. Indrabalan. The search was carried out under adverse weather conditions, and it has been reported that Arjun’s lorry was recovered from the CP 2 area.
