Salman Khan's Acquittal in Chinkara Poaching Case Challenged in SC
Earlier The Rajasthan High Court on July 25 had acquitted Salman, who was accused of killing two chinkaras in separate incidents.

Bollywood star Salman Khan is facing fresh legal trouble as the Rajasthan Government has challenged the actor's acquittal in the 1998 Chinkara poaching case in the Supreme Court.

The actor was accused of killing endangered chinkara near Jodhpur back in 1998. In 2006, Salman was sentenced to one year in jail for hunting Chinkaras but the Rajasthan High Court had issued a stay order on the actor's sentence after appeal. In 2016, the actor was acquitted after witnesses disappeared pre-cross-examination. The High Court had recovered pellets from Chinkara that did not belong to Salman's gun.
