S Shankar’s Note On Unauthorised Use Of Scenes From Tamil Novel A Veiled Dig At Devara?

Director S Shankar recently warned filmmakers against using scenes from the novel Veerayuga Nayagan Velpari without his permission. He claimed that he has acquired the copyright for adapting this novel. Many believe the message was an indirect dig at Devara, whose trailer was released recently. S Shankar has posted a message on his social media handle and lashed out at makers of a certain film, whose name he didn’t mention, and said he’s “upset” to see many scenes from Su Venkatesan’s Veerayuga Nayagan Velpari novel being used in its trailer. Shankar further added that he would take legal action against those involved in copyright violation. The director has also shared his disappointment over a specific incident, stating that he was upset to see a key scene in this recently released trailer of a movie.

S Shankar further added by urging the makers to refrain from unauthorised adaptations of scenes and from infringement. Though he did not mention the name of the movie in his post, he indirectly dedicated this message to the makers of this upcoming film to respect the creators’ rights.

Immediately after the post went viral on social media accounts, fans began to speculate whether he is targeting the makers of the Jr NTR’s upcoming film Devara or not. Some of them have guessed on the basis that, after the release of the trailer of this upcoming movie Devara, the director has shared this post on his social media platform. Although, some of them are speculating Devara as the subject of the director’s criticism, others believe that he may be referring to Surya’s upcoming film Kanguva, though the trailer for that film is yet to be released.

Apart from this, S Shankar had previously made headlines for his plans to adapt the iconic novel into a film. According to reports, the director intended to create the project on a massive scale, with a budget of Rs 1000 crore, featuring numerous stars as he is in talks with numerous actors for key roles from the novel.
