Mumbai: 'Gangs of Wasseypur' actress Richa Chadha, who is busy shooting for the film 'Cabaret', will be a part of a retrospective event in the memory of late actress Smita Patil.
The event, which will be held at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) on Saturday, is called 'Smita - A minor retrospective of a major actress'.
There will be a discussion forum wherein Richa will be speaking along with other actresses like Nandita Das.
"I am honoured to be invited to the Smita Patil retrospective, in particular, based on her film 'Bhumika', which many actresses can relate to. I am in esteemed company too. It's not often that we discuss cinema from an intellectual and academic place either. So I am looking forward to it," Richa said in a statement.
Smita Patil was regarded as "the queen of parallel cinema" in India, having starred in films like 'Bhumika', 'Manthan', 'Mirch Masala', 'Sadgati' and 'Umbratta' during her short career in the mid-70s to 80s. She died in 1986 when she was only 31 shortly after childbirth.
