Raveena Tandon REVEALS Rejecting Film With Shah Rukh Khan Over Her Costumes: 'It Was Objectifying'
Raveena Tandon also recalls how Shah Rukh Khan reacted when she backed out of the film at the last moment.

Raveena Tandon has revealed that she once rejected a film with Shah Rukh Khan because of her costumes. Recently, the actress was speaking to Filmfare when she opened up about the same and recalled that she said no to the movie at the last moment because she thought that her costumes were “weird” and “objectifying”.

“It (the film) was with Shah Rukh Khan and I had almost signed it till the time came to discuss the costumes. The costumes were really weird. It wasn’t something I would be comfortable wearing. I thought it was a little too objectifying. I said, ‘No sorry, I can’t’,” Raveena said.

The 49-year-old actress further revealed how Shah Rukh Khan reacted when she told him about rejecting the film. “SRK (Shah Rukh Khan) said, ‘Are you mad? Why are you saying no now?’ because we were already doing a film with the most amazing music called Jaadu. And we were doing Zamaana Deewana and we really used to get along. SRK is one of the wittiest, warmest, and gentlemanly co-actors to work with. He is decent to the core. And I told him I can’t wear that stuff… ‘I’ll feel funny, I’ll feel strange’,” she added.

While this film did not work out between Raveena Tanton and Shah Rukh Khan, they worked together in the 1995 movie Zamana Deewana. She was also offered Yash Chopra’s Darr but she declined that offer too. Later, Juhi Chawla played that role in the SRK starrer.

Meanwhile, Raveena Tandon’s Ghudchadi hit theatres on August 9. The film, also starring Sanjay Dutt, Parth Samthaan and Khushalii Kumar, is getting mixed reviews from the audience and critics. Talking about her chemistry in the film with Dutt, News18 Showsha’s review read, “You might think the only saving grace is the pair of Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon. And we wish we could say the same. It’s definitely nostalgic to see them serenading and romancing each other, but this angle also suffers from poor writing. The sequences featuring them bore so much potential but fizzle out before they can take off. Raveena, however, looks stunning and brings an element of normalcy to this cluttered story. The makers tried to pack too much into two hours with a paper-thin plot.”
