Ranbir Kapoor Opts Out of CGI, VFX Help For Lord Ram's Look in 'Ramayana': Report
As per a recent report, Ranbir Kapoor won't be using CGI or VFX to achieve Lord Ram's look in Ramayana.

Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for his role in Nitesh Tiwari’s adaptation of Ramayana, but has not yet begun filming. According to India Today, Kapoor is focused on achieving his desired physical form through diet and exercise rather than relying on CGI and VFX for his appearance. He has communicated to Tiwari his preference to avoid digital alterations to his face and body.

A recent viral video showcased Kapoor diligently working out to shed the extra pounds. Following his role in Animal, he has embarked on a fitness journey aiming to embody Lord Ram for Tiwari’s Ramayana to perfection. The production of Ramayana has commenced, with Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, and other actors filming their parts.

In an era where CGI is a common tool for altering actors appearances, Kapoor has instead adhered to a strict regimen of reduced carbohydrate intake and heightened cardio exercises, including running and bodyweight training. According to a source, Kapoor is intent on slimming down rather than maintaining a muscular build, especially shedding weight from his face and torso, areas he had bulked up for his role in Animal.

The source told the portal, “Ranbir doesn’t want to look muscular. Whatever frame he had gained for Animal, he has had to lose it for Ramayana. The more challenging areas for him to lose weight has been his face and torso which he had gained during Animal.”

Kapoor’s transformation for Ramayana has been met with acclaim during his look test for the film. Even though Nitesh Tiwari has not officially announced Ramayana as of now, the film has been making headlines for a long time now. While Ranbir Kapoor will be playing the role of Ram in this movie, Sai Pallavi has been roped in for the role of Sita. Prior to Sai, Ranbir’s actress-wife, Alia Bhatt was in talks for the role of Sita but she backed out due to dates-related issues.

KGF star Yash is also likely to play Ravana in the movie whereas Sunny Deol has reportedly been locked for the role of Hanuman. Bobby Deol and Vijay Sethupathi are also reportedly in talks for the roles of Kumbhakarna and Vibhashana respectively. Arun Govil, popularly known for playing the role of Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana, will now be stepping into the shoes of King Dashrath. Besides this, Lara Dutta will also be seen as Kaikeyi in the movie.

Reportedly, makers are planning to release Ramayana on Diwali 2025. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this as of now.
