Rajesh Khanna and Asha Parekh are some of the most beloved onscreen pairs in Bollywood. The two starred in evergreen hits like Aan Milo Sajna and Kati Patang. According to an interesting anecdote shared by Asha Parekh, the superstar was afraid of the actress. Here is why.

Rajesh Khanna and Asha Parekh’s chemistry gave several hits to the Indian film industry, becoming one of the most popular film couples. At a reality show, the veteran actress revealed how scared he was of her when they first started working on a project. According to her, he was an introverted person, who kept to himself. For the first time, the two actors worked on the film Baharon Ke Sapne.

She said at the show, “He was a very introvert by nature. But when I came in front of him, he looked very scared and nervous.” The actress added, “I used to feel very strange looking at him and once he saw me in front of him, he immediately turned his face to the other side.”

She further revealed that Rajesh Khanna himself called her and told her, “I am very scared of you. So, I turned away.” She then told him not to be uncomfortable in front of her. The two actors then became good friends and went on to give huge hits together.

Asha Parekh and Rajesh Khanna’s first film together, Baharon Ke Sapne, was directed and produced by Nasir Hussain, considered a pioneer in Indian cinema. Apart from them, the film also included names like Prem Nath, Rajendra Nath, Madan Puri, Sulochna Latkar and many others. The music in the film is done by R D Burman and it was released on June 23, 1967.

One of their biggest hits was Kati Patang, which was released in 1971. Directed by Shakti Samanta, the film stars Rajesh Khanna and Asha Parekh as the leads, along with Prem Chopra, Bindu and Nazir Hussain. Shakti Samanta also produced the film, while R D Burman did the music.
