Kannada actor and filmmaker Raj B Shetty is all set to take up his fourth production venture. Some time ago, Raj took to social media to put out a casting call for his upcoming Production No 4 under his Lighter Buddha Films. Raj, who has made films like Ondu Motteya Kathe, Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana and Toby and directed Swati Mutthina Male Haniye for Ramya’s Applebox Studios, has not yet said whether he is directing this project.
The post said his team is looking for local artists in the age group of 18-70 years in Dakshina Kannada districts like Bantwala, Punjalakatte, Belthangady and Ujjire. The date for the casting is June 23 and will be held at Kala Sabhangana in Belthangady.
During the promotions of Swati Mutthina Male Haniye, Raj had said that his immediate focus would be on his production house, though he would only serve as a writer on the next two projects while other members of his team would be brought in as directors and actors. Raj’s return to directing would happen only after that, he had said.
The actor and filmmaker is also working on a script for a web series that has been greenlit by a popular streamer. In Kannada, Raj was last seen in Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye, actress Ramya’s first production, which was initially announced as her comeback. She eventually opted out and the role went to Siri Ravikumar instead.
Raj B Shetty will next be seen in Arjun Janya’s directorial debut 45, which also stars Upendra and Shivarajkumar. The actor has also been signed up to play the role of the antagonist in Jadesha K Hampi’s next, yet untitled film, starring Duniya Vijay in the lead role. Raj’s Malayalam cinema debut as a villain in superstar Mammootty’s latest film, Turbo, was also highly praised.
