Korean drama fans are thrilled as actress Oh Yeon Soo has been confirmed to reunite with Han Suk Kyu after 31 years in the upcoming MBC drama titled Such a Close Traitor (working title). This highly-anticipated psychological thriller has been the talk of the town since its announcement on April 16. This drama holds special importance for Han Suk Kyu, as it marks his return to MBC after nearly three decades since his last appearance in Hotel in 1995. Moreover, it marks the first on-screen reunion of Han Suk Kyu and Oh Yeon Soo in approximately 31 years, since they last worked together in the 1993 MBC drama Son and Daughter. Their portrayal of a divorced couple is expected to bring lots of emotions and complexity to their characters, further raising expectations from the upcoming series.
Such a Close Traitor will tentatively be released in the second half of 2024, reports Soompi. It is being directed by Song Yeon Hwa, known for works like The Red Sleeve, When I Was the Most Beautiful, and Hunted.
Talking about the K drama, Namgoong Sung Woo, the Executive producer of the show said, “The mere fact that the two actors who experienced the history of MBC dramas are reuniting in an MBC drama is a key point that makes viewers look forward to Such a Close Traitor. Please show lots of anticipation and support for the performance of the two actors, who shine just by their names alone.”
