Munna Bhaiya's Role In Mirzapur Was First Offered To This Actor

Many believe that everything in life happens for a reason or it is destiny. It also applies to certain roles which actors land in films that can make or break their careers. One such prominent role is Munna Bhaiya from the famous action-thriller web series, Mirzapur. Divyenndu Sharma nailed the role of a power-hungry and blood-thirsty man who wants to inherit his father’s legacy. But did you know he was not the first choice?

Munna Bhaiya is an important character in the Mirzapur narrative and is shown to be the son of Akhandanand Tripathi, aka, Kaleen Bhaiya the crime boss of the Mirzapur area. Munna Tripathi is introduced right in Season 1 whom the audience quickly begins to hate. His profanity-filled dialogues quickly became quite famous among youngsters. In season 3, his role took a shocking turn that left the audience stunned. But as mentioned, Divyenndu Sharma was not the first choice for his famous role.

The actor who was first approached to play Munna Tripathi in the Mirzapur web series was Amit Sial, who was later roped in for the role of Inspection Ram Sharan Maurya in the show. In an interview, the actor revealed this information. He shared, “Munna’s character in Mirzapur was offered to me, but obviously, I wouldn’t have been convincing as Pankaj Tripathi’s son. But I am very happy with the role I played. I think that’s a classic character.” But that’s not it. He expressed how Divyenndu Sharma left him in awe. He added that the actor is a very sweet friend and portrayed the character “exceptionally well”.

Looks like Divyenndu Sharma was destined to portray the role because his exceptional acting earned him much recognition and praise from the cine-goers and audience. While the actor has previously worked in films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Dilliwali Zaalim Girlfriend, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and many more. But it was Mirzapur that was a breakthrough for his career and cemented him as a strong actor in the industry.

Speaking of the series, Mirzapur will have yet another season which is already in the development phase. Rasika Dugal too hinted that there will be more drama in season 4.
