Karan Johar's Tribute To 'All-Time Favourite' Rishi Kapoor Has A Student Of The Year Connection
Karan Johar reshared a clip from his film Student of The Year featuring Rishi Kapoor.

The nation was left heartbroken when Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30, 2020. Fondly known as Chintu Ji, the actor made an indelible mark on the Hindi film industry with his remarkable talent and charismatic personality. Celebrities from the industry continue to remember him for his contributions and the lasting impact he had on them. On Thursday, Karan Johar paid tribute to the late actor by posting a heartfelt video on Instagram.

The clip featured a scene from Karan Johar’s film Student of The Year, posted by the filmmaker’s production banner Dharma Productions. It included a scene where Rishi Kapoor arrives to attend the wedding of Varun Dhawan’s brother. Resharing the clip on his Instagram handle, Karan penned a sweet note for the actor, “The best! My all time favourite! Rishi Kapoor forever!”

Rishi Kapoor, in his career spanning nearly five decades, has been a part of several films, cementing his stature as a legendary star. In 1980, the actor tied the knot with actress Neetu Singh. The couple shared screen space in a plethora of films including Amar Akbar Anthony, Kabhie Kabhie, Khel Khel Mein and more.

Karan Johar announced his next directorial project on his 51st birthday earlier this year. In a post on Instagram, he was seen wearing a white shirt as he held a draft that reads: “Untitled narration draft… Directed by Karan Johar May 25.”

Karan Johar’s last directorial venture was the 2023 release of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead, the film was a blockbuster and garnered love for both the stars’ impressive performances. Previously, he directed Ghost Stories, Lust Stories, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Student of the Year, My Name Is Khan, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

In terms of production, Karan Johar last bankrolled the film titled Kill, starring Lakshya, Raghav Juyal and Tanya Maniktala in prominent roles. Directed by Nikhil Bhat, the film was released last month. It was based on the story of the gripping story of Indian Army commando Amrit who fights against his adversaries to rescue his beloved Tulika.
